A few snaps of objects in Pant Mawr that were filed under the heading of 'mystery'.

Can anybody shed any light please?

This metal object is 3 inches long or a bit less. One end is a spike with four flat faces. The other end round, as if it held a wooden shaft. But the size of it was such that it couldn't have been any usable hand tool surely?

These wooden handles are scattered around everywhere. Some of them are in shot holes, some lying on the floor, some stacked up. We thought they were tamping rods, but they're not circular in section. The one in this photo looks like a hammer shaft, others were less shaped. But if they are tool handles why so many of them?

This we had no idea. It's made of wire (very rusted so it couldn't be touched) and some sort of cloth or fabric. It's cylindrical (or probably was) about 4 to 5 inches in diameter. Very hard to photo clearly, but hopefully this shows it.

Here's the supersize link for this one, it might help identify it: http://www.aditnow.co.uk/supersize/Pant-mawr-Slate-Mine-User-Album-Image-52854/

Is the bottom photo (wire & fabric) a section of cheap & nasty ventilation trunking?

I suppose that would make sense, but it would be the only evidence of any in the mine

The wire object seemed to have been made in a spherical shape and the was a bent wire hook as if to hang it up, sadly this broke of when touched 😞 my fault, the wire wasn't as sound as it looked. I'm fairly certain it was made from several bits of wire rather than a continuous spiral.
Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.

first thing popped to mind was something on the order of a belt-hung nail pouch (or other small parts) thinking the flattened loop would be for the belt (the other loop being popped open at bottom left)

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
