I have just received a letter from the current owners of the site, They are very concerned that recently the EA has recency contacted them. Informing them that they have on several occasions, monitored explorers entering the mine itself.

For the ones that are not familiar with the site, the mine water is regularly monitored for high levels pollutants. It is there for the new owners responsibility to make sure this problem does not get any worse.

There is currently talks behind the scenes to try get some sort off long term access to the mine. But problems like this do access talks no favours.

The current owners do not want to go down the road of filling in holes and making gates. But warn the mining comunity to give Gwynfynydd a wide birth for the time being as they dont want to have there hands forced by the EA.

Its is very rare for a company to try and work with the exploring comunity, I there for ask you all to use a little self restraint and keep away.

Roy, could you cross-post it here please? :flowers:

Whilst there is some crossover of users, there are many who do not have the time or desire to use every relevant site on t'interweb.

I might at some point sally forth on the subject of the idiocy of bodies such as the EA and CCW and their utter inability to accept that nature exists in its current form in spite of man's best efforts to wipe it out.

The levels of pollution that would be generated by people trampling around in Gwynfynydd and several other mines in the area on a daily basis would be nothing compared to the historical levels of pollution that once existed.

Still, that's one for another day ;)

Anyway, I'll edit the Gwynfynydd entry in the database to note that access may be an issue.
Hello again darkness, my old friend...

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
