I have been diving in dorothea for the last ten years it's an amazing place, yes its claimed lives over the years but when you look at the reasons it's not really that shocking! how many people die on snowdon each year climbing for example? Dorothea is a very big, very deep quarry I have personally reached 100 meters using helium mixtures, no one could say how deep dorothea is for sure as at these depths we don't have much time to explore due to massive decompression times, but it is estimated to be 108 meters plus, the flooded section is riddled with tunnels there are lots of old workings still in the quarry including a crane, if anyone wants any info i will try to help,

Have any underwater photographs been taken especially of the crane? Do any appear on the internet?

There was a discussion about a crane underwater at Dorothea on here a while back but no one had much information.

Is there an old Dodge tipper lorry down there? Or has it now disintigrated with rust?

Brilliant films on the crane. I thint it would possibly be a dragline or face shovel originaly going with the guide pulleys at the front. My guess it would a Smith early 1950's with a Dorman engine. But then again it could be one of many other types around at the time.
Well John, they do diving courses don't they? Does it appeal to you?
