Hi I'm new on this site, so forgive the rather unadventurous question:

has anyone investigated, or have any info on Allt Goch quarry in Aberdyfi?

I have been in the higher chamber accessed by some scrambling up the valley to the adit. Bizarely though I can't find any information on the rather obvious adit entrance at the bottom right by the bend in the road/track just slightly up from the car park. I may be being very stupid , but does anyone know anything about this?

cheers
Barney

Info from 'the' book...
Main adit leads to chambers, lower adit leads to a shaft down from main adit. Probable higher adit lost in forestry.

Would assume the one at the roadside would be the lower adit?

yes sorry about the repeat thread--my mistake.

Thanks Barney for the quick reply!

not wishing to seem ungrateful for the help, but yes have read this also in 'the book', however, getting into a bit more detail;

The discussion is that a lower adit, as you say is to a shaft up to the main adit / chamber. However, this adit entrance down at the roadside is a long way away and much below than the chamber, and would represent a vast effort it would seem in the context of the whole small workings ( but would make sense for transportation. Anway, I guess it needs investigating!

thanks again for the input

Maybe its connected with another quarry? but im sure you would know that! Or maybe a trial to find other end of, or different vein. Theres only one way to find out, get your helmet on!
