East Wheal Lovell.

Interesting engine house configuration with an off-set cylinder arch and chimney at the end opposite to the shaft.

Its a wide cylinder arch - clearly a major engine. Anyone know what diameter and what date / previous history? Also the date of this engine house which cursory online accounts suggest is fairly late C19 and possibly imply a second hand engine.

If the shaft which lies hard against the south east end of the engine house has not been treated any purchaser can add £lots to the conversion costs...

According to The Complete Guide to Engine Houses in West Cornwall by Damian Nance and Ken Brown (p 14/15), it contained a 50in Engine ('Rogers'). It worked until 1881. Previous to this it worked at Great East Lovell. The unusual design was due to the House only having two floors. The shaft is filled rather than capped and 100 fathoms deep.
poke around long enough and you'll find something..

If anyone fancies a good laugh, then they could go to the planning department and download the first item on the list, the 'decision notice' for the planning application.

http://planning.cornwall.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=NWGYZ2FGMW500

It's also a listed building, and the listed building consent provides even more amusement

http://planning.cornwall.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=NWGYZ6FGMW600

Note that the listed building consent requires approval of lots of 'reserved items' PRIOR to any work starting on site. The LB consent lasts for 3 years, and was granted in June 2016.

Tick, tock ...

Madness takes its toll, please carry exact change

To be fair, I was tempted to ring up and enquire just for the pleasure of asking to speak to Lillicrap Chilcott
