I often walk the dogs up here and always wondered what was below.

There are signs warning of mine workings and I found a couple of metal doors in the ground by the road. They have pipes with the sound of water pumping from a concrete plug, I was wondering if this was water pumped from an old shaft for the campsite?

I wouldn't have thought it was a borehole because its so far away from the site.

Old Maps has two shafts marked which seem to be associated with Wheal Trebarvah, one at 150 metres from cliff with the second being at 250 metres.

Edit: Seems to have a few different names.

If so plenty of shafts about. :)

Only shaft that appears on Old Maps, (and the tip is still marked as such) is here.

Very interesting. I spent a few good simmersr a perran sands .be nice to see pics:)
