This place is quite interesting, if anyone can give me some more ino I'd be very greatful.
The material extracted is actually a riveable form of sandstone, though to quarrymen this is known as slate - as it can split just as thin, and well. 😉
There appear to be five different levels - only one of which has much length, although I think that another one in the North workings could be cleared in a few trips.

Have you got the book by David Hall - Burtersett Quarries, A Wensleydale Mining Community? Only 24 pages, but better than nothing.
