Folks. I wish to have a peruse of 51SW with Jenkin's Annotations, however it is not in my file.
Does it exist?
If so, please please please can you email it to me!
Cheers, Stu

I don't know anyone with that map either. Mind you there's quite a chunk of it that is just sea.
Strange really, with South Polmear sett being so large and numerous shafts in the area.
Perhaps it was missing from the collection when it was microfilmed.
I seem to have a vague recollection that there were 1 or 2 missing.

Hmmm. It seems to be missing. I have the other maps of that series, but none with annotations.
St Austell is turning into a bit of an interest. I feel a major aditathon coming along!

I have all other OS additions of that area, but 51 SW (Charlstown) is missing from my AKH collection. I don't know anyone that has it.

By the way, I'm thinking of having an aditathon in the area in the next week or so. Perhaps a Sunday.
Time dependent on tide. If anyone is up for it, send me a PM.

Any one familiar with the adit at Charlestown with three drives from its portal? Left hand drive is clearly an old adit, presumably for Polmear, or perhaps South Polmear - it roughly heads towards the shaft marked on the OS at 0356 5146 (which is not included in Dines' description of Polmear but could be just an adit shaft). One of the other drives heads straight for the docks. I was only able to explore a couple of the drives for about 20yds or so - but they go further. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has 'done' this adit as to what the other drives were for and how far it "goes".
Tim.

I'm not too sure he (Hammy Jenks) had one himself. For such a well mined area his coverage in Vol 14, page 18, St.Austell to Saltash, seems woefully brief, only referring to mines appearing on the North west Corner of Sheet 50 SE, viz; West Polmear, Gewans ,Park Mathew, Menagwins, etc see sheet 50SE.
Curiously enough, he's a bit slack in other areas too.
Take for instance his coverage of Tresavean, less that 3 miles from his home in Redruth, steeped in history and yet is only dealt with briefly. Odd!

I dont have it either but i do have the 6" maps and 51sw is on there, however these have next to no relevant information on them.
I am planning to do the adit trip next to fannys beach at the end of the month and was hoping to have some more detailed information
