Doug
I know that people working for mining and quarrying companies do post on this site and would inform their security dept. if there were posts relating to any unauthorised activity.
I know what you mean, if we post details on this site of how to enter a working mine via some old shaft or adit , some nutter might read it and use the information to gain access.
But they would face collapses, flooded areas and a maze of tunnels (probably with no map). But yes I totally agree an authorised excursion into any working mine or quarry not via the main mine or quarry site would need to be kept private.
Most mine owners are more concerned about about the nutters who mess around on the surface, Trespassing, fly tipping, theft and vandalism than suicidal mine explorers.
But for this thread there are no worries, the little tunnel is now gated and does not connect to any live workings and as has been said the adit is now impossible to access.
Saying that, it would be nice one day for site members to get together and approach South Crofty officially about a group trip underground, the mine's work load permitting.
Is it safe to come out of the bunker yet?
