from the 'Cornwall in Focus' tourist website;

"The last working tin mine, South Crofty at Pool shut down in 1998 and despite local efforts seems unlikely to reopen again. 'Crofty' as it is affectionately known does not actually mine the Great Flat Lode but mines the lodes to the north of Carn Brea. it is included here however as it does form part of the Great Flat Lode Trail"

I'm not going to comment on this except to remark that you can see which mast these particular colours are nailed to... the same page goes on to refer to Baseresult taking underground tours at Tuckingmill, but no reference to the development work discussed elsewhere.

It may simply be that the page is out of date, but all the same this is what comes up on google....

I don't suppose there would be any connection between a tourist website and at least some of the plans for the site... 😉

that's the trouble down there, no-one is neutral and none of the information is impartial.....

mind you, I notice that 'this is cornwall.co.uk' for April 27th refers to negotiations to buy the land around the Tuckingmill decline, "thus freeing up 27 acres for regeneration"

since the crux of the Council's objection appears to be that THEY should redevelop the site, not Baseresult, WUM or whoever is behind them, you have to wonder a little bit....

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
