Hi

I'm very interested in this quarry as my great grandfather William Lot Rogers is noted as Trinity House clerk of works in 1901 census and we know he worked on Beachey Head Lighthouse. William died at age 48 in 1903 from exhaustion possibly brought on by long hours and heavy work

His father Robert Rogers born c 1820 died 1870's worked on the Smalls Lighthouse off Solva, the stone came from De Lank and I'm sure that his stone work caused the family to move from Pembroke to Penzance.

Both men died young and left widows. Robert's wife Elizabeth Rogers nee Phillips is noted as an annuitant suggesting that she received a widows pension

Any info re the quarry at this time or leads where I can get more info about these men or their dependents would be most welcome.

The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

Peter Stanier knows a great deal about granite quarries in Cornwall, I think. Maybe someone here can put you in touch with him.
