Merstham limeworks track layouts should be well represented on the various OS plans.

Yep, Greystone Lime Works tracks on NLS mapping.
Forwarded NLS map number to the 'Railmaps' gentleman.

Edit: Appears it's already on his site.:-[

And don't forget Brockham limeworks/brickworks. I imagine Betchworth has been done to death already.

I think the bottom of the path coincided with the boundary of Taylor's land. It would be interesting to find out when the siding by Colley Lane was built. It is on the 1914 OS plan, If it was built after the time of the fatal accident then this would suggest the produce was shipped by cart to the station (most likely) from the end of the path, until the siding was added. Produce was taken to the siding by horse-drawn cart according to those whose memories are on record.

There was an agreement between South Eastern and Chatham Railway, and George Taylor, to open a siding by the Colley Lane bridge, in July 1908. I knew I had noted it somewhere!

Interesting. I suppose it never got past that stage?

Wrong - it was built and became the mine's route to market.

I was hoping that would be the case.

More rummaging for maps methinks.

The siding does indeed appear on mapping. I assume it was a horse/cart job between 'sheep walk' tramway to the siding?
