We are digging the fall just inside the adit this weekend. We have got 4-5 people committed to it, 3 or 4 more would be handy - any takers? If your interested please PM me.

Would normally have been up for it, but have something else planned already for this weekend.

If you don't get finished or dig somewhere else at a later date, let me know.

The dig went very well, got 2 beams of steel in, need to put in another 2 with some more spiling.

Ended up using so far:

5 x 8' rail lines, 4 x 8' scaf poles, 2 x 12' scaf poles, 3.5m x 100mm I beam, 3 x 5' 3x5" fence posts

Still needs another long weekend session and should be done.

Very hard work, body aching in the places I did not know existed. We had 5 people each day and in the end this was a good number. A very big thanks to all that turned up:

Karl
Karli - COMRU
Ian S - would have been stuck without those scaf poles, barrels and tools
PeteHall – tools and rope
Skippy – drills and chisels. How well he used them, but then all the years of practice....

Though, he could not come, thanks to Pete for the first I Beam that we used up and the fence posts.

Not to mention the way he moved all those huge blocks and hammered scaff poles through solid rock; the man's a machine

Also, you forgot to mention Mr Mike, who did afterall mannage to organise it all

It was hard uncomfortable work but strangely enjoyable and at least we did some good in there and it was the best work out for my new light i hope for.
If there is another go at it let me know and hopefully i'll be able to help, in the mean time i'll try and scrounge up some more eight foots of scaffy, cheers lads.

There was another digging session on the Hagg's dig on Saturday and the fall is now clear and very secure with all the steel work in.

Excellent work by all who helped with it, see:

With this open, there was only one thing for it and on the Sunday we did the Greater Nenthead Traverse, see:

A very sporting trip....

Be careful in the link as there was a number of fresh shale falls, don't scrape your bag on the roof, also in the Hagg's section there are some submerged pipes - they can take your shins out !!!!

When did you do it last Chris, we have been trying to work out when the fall occurred, some COMRU members seen to think it was around 8 years ago? I thought it was more like 5.

I would do it again, but for a change, via the Hydraulic Shaft 😉

If someone else was doing it and I happened to be nearby, I'd definitely do it again; but in the mean time, there's plenty more to do... :)

Awesome trip anyway and thanks to Mr. Mike for organising it

Had toyed with the idea of pre-rigging it & doing it the 'wrong' way but waiting turns at the bottom of the first pitch up to Scaleburn probably wouldn't be that pleasant an experience.
