A Google search turns up a few images plus a rather expensive book.

I have the book.
It mentions Kirkby Fenton's colliery in respect to some incidents. An explosion in c1840 and a head injury to a boy driving a haulage road(?). It also mentions boy's workings hours were 6am to 8pm in 1841.

The location of Fenton's Old Engine Pit is in the database on this site, but no information.

I have an unnamed colliery nearer to Bagthorpe that is possibly the site of the later Fenton's Colliery. Approx NGR of SK474517.

Both these collieries along with others in the Baghtorpe area were likely linked to Cromford Canal (near Brinsley Hall) by an old tramroad.

I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

When do I get my soapbox, I need to rant on about some b***cks

The 1840 / 1841 dates look interesting, might they relate to evidence / testimony taken by the Royal Commission which led to the Mines Act of 1842? Might be an interesting avenue to explore.

Yes, all the references are in respect to the Children's Employment Sub-commissioner
