myself and a few others are planning a 4 day trip to Nents head in the newt month or so and one person has mentioned the Brownley Hills to Canadian Level through trip. Just wondering if anyone knows if it is still passable?

There's a Canadian or Canada Level at Carrock in the Lakes but I don't know of one at Nenthead though that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't.

There is a Capelcleugh to Brownley through trip but its very long and very wet and you really couldn't think of doing it without prior knowledge of the individual sections. Good trip though.

Not sure if that is its correct name but the exit / entrance to the level is on the side of the road next to a rndom building ont he main road to nentshead.

Is that capel cleugh?

If you're coming from Alston direction that sounds like it could be Nentsberry Haggs which is collapsed a short way in. You can get into the mine proper from Brownley though, just not out by the portal.

Capelcleugh is just over the stream from the Heritage Centre carpark.

We are digging the collapse in Haggs at the moment - its not too far from the portal, but not very nice - a lot of water, and almost slurry. The through trip is only possible when the collapse has been stabilised and opened - its holding back a LOT of water in the Haggs horse level. The trip through from Brownley is open, but not very nice - new sections of shale are coming out of the roof every time we go through there - I often think we are going to come out and find it totally run in - all the more argument for finishing the Haggs horse level dig.. If anyone has any spare scaffold poles or rails, please feel free to donate and drop off in the yard at the mines centre. Any volunteers to help much appreciated - feel free to contact me or Mr. Mike - we could use a crew of about six or seven for a weekend, and think we'd have it spiled through - the first frame is ready to set, and we have SOME steel down there now.
