Has anyone been to the lower level in Long Rake Spa recently?
Went in last night (one of our Thursday nighter has a bad back so fancied an easy bimble)
But couldn’t find a way through to the bottom via the usual route…It’s been a while since I visited – so in theory I could have missed it…but I Have a feeling the crawl out from the stope has filled up enough to prevent an exit with the muddy sludge that is prevalent from the dust blown in by the fans.
Did we go the right way? Left through the crawl into stopes opposite the elsan toilets – down the dead’s and rubble to the top of the muddy fixed rope…down that slope and climb down the stemples…ahead and up and over the wooden traverse boards to the bottom…we were expecting a crawl on the left into the lower drive – but the only one we could find was full of mud/slurry apart from an inch or two of roof space draughting like mad!
Is there an alternative way down…many of the holes in the floor of the upper drive look promising to ab down..but as we were only having a wander we didn’t have any rope/srt kit with us…
Cheers!

Sounds like there has been some changes in there.

A roadside shaft opened up last year and has been infilled, so stuff is moving.
Place is ruined in my view anyway with the rock dust being pumped into there covering everything.
Sounds like the place is lost apart from the entrance section and bit of 'old man' opposite the Elsans.
My avatar is a poor likeness.
