Friday/Saturday/Sunday (5th/6th/7th October), Wirksworth community will be holding a weekend of celebrations/events to mark the 500th anniversary of the granting of the ore dish (The Miner's Standard) by Henry VIII .

As part of these celebrations ('The Dish Do'), Wirksworth Mines Research Group will be putting on a photographic display in Wirksworth itself (called 'Under Your Feet'), and we'll also be illuminating Hard End Shaft at Bage Mine for any one who wants to have a look down this 303 ft shaft. We'll have a shed over the shaft, so you'll be able to see the shaft gloriously illuminated from within, and even if I do say so myself, it will look rather stunning.

Details of the weekend's events are available on:

Cheers, Ash

Be at the Ride To The Wall on the Sunday, but I might pop over, possibly with a few mates afterwards.

Quick photo of the illuminated shaft taken today - crappy camera, but it gives a general impression!

Just a little bump for an intersting event. 😉

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
