This is a carry on from the book thread. -

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/community/viewtopic.aspx?p=67808#msg67808

The plan is for a weekend of SRT mine exploring in the peak district.

One day will be Masson / Gentlewomans - Youds level

and the other will be Odin Mine

I am willing to take people through the first one and hopefully RockChick will take us for a wander in Odin ;D

Any one wanna throw some dates about? 🙂

I could do this year easily enough however I suspect it might be short notice for many.

There's a Nent trip in the pipeline for the Christmas holidays and there is talk of another Wales weekend which I presume will be June/July again so perhaps sometime in the spring might be the best bet?

Easter weekend is 22/25 April which would make it easier for anyone not wanting to have to make a mad dash over on a morning however given the Peak District's central location nobody north of the Thames is going to be faced with a five hour drive so its not such an issue.

As a fairly wild thought in addition to the other two trips, what does anybody know about Titan?
It was on a recent NAMHO trip list & I know ChrisJC & co have done it recently so access is presumably possible outside of the cliquey world of caving clubs.

Yeah spring sounds good. Will give me a chance to check out Masson as well :)

Titan i believe is still doable but i think on of the passages in the through trip was off limits after a boulder choke started to move. I will ask my mate if he knows any more about it :)

"Titan" it's a cave!! Shock Horror , mind you so is part of the Masson complex, just bring your knee pads, horrible place, never going in there again.

Oh & don't park in the car park on Artists' corner , else you'll end up with a broken door like my Jeep. :curse:
The management thanks you for your co operation.

Titan itself may be a cave but its existence is due to mining activities as far as I understand. Anyway to it involves going through a mine, James Hall Over Engine Mine or Speedwell.

Even the access from Hurd Low is mined. If you get the chance of seeing the DVD "Titan from the Top" it is well worth viewing.

It does connect with a fair amount of mine though if I understand things correctly - James Hall Over Engine? In all seriousness its not even a vaguely realistic trip on top of the two other SRT trips but it would be an interesting one to consider for the future.

Organising the Titan trip was pretty straightforward once I'd found the right people. However, it did need to be a bona-fide group.
A darn good trip, through Titan, James Hall, Speedwell and Peak. Not one for a large group though, or fatties.

Spring / April would suit me :flowers:

Looks like there'll be a few trips of longer than a day planned next year:

xmas break - Nent

spring? - Peak District

N Wales long weekend (it's here if you want it!) - June like last year (? - avoids school holiday and May/June the weather is usually good for camping round here)

How about something Cornish at the end of the summer? (after school holidays ideally)

Oh, and are we still off to somewhere in Eastern Europe at some point over the summer? 😮

Titan... Not being into caves, I had no idea about this. All I can say is "Bloody hell!"

Yeah, maybe not this trip, I'm not quite confident in attempting that just yet, but after a bit more practice, I want down there! It's fooking massive!
