Hi
I am researching underground mines and caverns, particularly in the Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Cotswolds areas that are capable of being re-opened to the public, both as an historical attraction and research project but could be used to house a small brewery and distillery. Not unlike the Cave de Bailly in Burgundy.

Anyone able to help and anything I can explore?

There are plenty of stone quarries in the Bath / Box / Corsham area. A bit of googling / research, key words being Box, Ridge, Monks Park will give you an idea of what's about.

Getting access might be more problematic. I believe Hansons control access to some of them.

Out of idle curiosity, what the caverns and mines that aren't underground like?

More helpfully in addition to ChrisJC's comments, as a signed up member you can use the search facility to give a map of listed sites, and then find some details about each one

I got in there a few years ago when it was open and it was just mind boggling. We had a plan and still got lost.

Were you holding the plan the wrong way up?:lol:

Oxfordshire???? are you joking man??? all of the spots I know of are sealed up tighter than a drum, or on land that you'll never get permission to cross, Wiltshire??? forgeddit - too fricking political!! Cotswolds - now you're just 'aving a girrafe mate!! - better going in with "Tap Social" in Botley! that's about as underground as you're likley to get round here!!
Better to regret something you have done - than to regret something you have not done.

Thanks and I get the gist... I'd better get the shovel out and get started on what might be a long term project. 😢

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
