Anything is possible, but..

Access is a sticky situation, to say the least.

Getting equipment down there, diving and getting equipment out again would be a several day event.

You'd need the Grosvenor Caving Club to sort out their access agreement; some means of getting the equipment down 400ft of rickety ladders (some of which need replacing, I believe); to move the stuff about a mile through knee-deep water - and then you'd be there. And then repeat in reverse.

The pool itself is rather interesting, in that it had rubble dumped in it for many years, with no sign of it filling up - it might be very interesting to find out more about it, but it's possible you'd need to be equipped for some seriously deep diving...

Well you could avoid the 'access problems' by swimming in your diving gear from the Baguilt portal. Need to be a very strong swimmer (or use one of those motorised dive buddies) as the flow (5+ million gallons/day) will be against you. On the way back it will be plain sailing, but keep your head down near the blockage so you don't strike it at speed

Its a long way to the lake so you may need a few bottles...

Thanks for the info, with regards to the depth thing we are very qualified in this department however the several day access issue is a bit of putting to say the least. 😢 😞

Quote:

The lake was plumbed and the "bottom" was still not reached at -60m. Diving (to -20m) showed a slowly sloping tunnel the diameter of the lake. As the ceiling above the lake is 20m up, with a further 30m of natural chambers ascending through a hole in the ceiling, and the lake has been plumbed to 60m, the depth of natural passage is given as 110m, despite the fact that the actual depth of the flooded passage is much greater.

Thus, depth is *at least* 60m, which should make diving quite interesting, to say the least - although it seems to be just before the limit of having to start using interesting gasses?

This trip was done by a couple of lads from the Crewe in the mid 80's by wading/ swimming. IIRC it took around 12 hrs.

I believe the water contains a very high Zinc content ,not Copper. It is 900 parts per million.

We have been known to use some interesting gas mixes in our time, one of my buddies is a technical diving instructor he is of to dive the HMS russell over in Malta shortly its deep, we did the bottom of Dotty and recorded 108.2m there bit cold down there. 😮
