Hi I'm a new member and interested in any information about Joseph Downs my maternal ggf who is listed as a colliery under manager at Kilmersdon colliery in the 1911 census and anything else about the colliery and his life.
Many thanks

As he was an undermanager he will be listed in the annual List of Mines published by the Inspectors of Mines. If he moved colliery or qualified and found work as a manager his promotion or move can also be traced.

Runs of the LoM are not commonplace but the larger metropolitan libraries, national coal museums and the seven copyright libraries hold runs. Down to 1919 they are Parliamentary Papers and thus appear in the microfilm / online sets that most university libraries hold / have access to.
