The two main shafts at Lea Green Colliery where called No 1 King Pit and No 2 Queen Pit.
The seams worked there in the 1950s where: Higher Florida, Lower Florida, Wigan Five Feet, Wigan Four Feet, Trencherbone,
Plodder, Rushy Park and Arley Mine.
The manpower was 1312 underground and 284 on the surface.
Lea Green was surounded on three sides by Sutton Heath Colliery and Sherdley Colliery to the north and north east. To the south and south east was Sutton Manor Colliery. To the west was major faulting. It was decided to shut Lea Green in 1964 they where getting very close to Sutton Manors workings, the pits could here each others shotfireing.
