Went passed Tuesday and the site has been cleared,all but the listed buildings. It looks a mess even with rubble removed.Cant see local residents being happy if it is left looking such a mess for any time.

The only buildings that are currently listed are the gate houses. The rest of the stone/brick buildings, as yet, have little protection. Hopefully that will change, but they are still a little vulnerable at present, as is the canal tunnel underneath. 😞

No the buildings are under re-assessment and there are other things afoot I cant discuss on open forum. 😉

Hello everyone

I am from Portugal and I just registered here.
I was searching the web to identify the diesel shunter from the picture bellow and I found your forum.

The picture is from the inauguration of a paper factory in Portugal in the 1950ies.
Someone pointed out to me that it could be a Planet shunter and from the cabin oval plates it seems possible.
It is a plate similar to the Planet one that I saw in this topic.

Does anyone know if it is a Planet shunter?
Or were could I find more information about works lists and a possible order from a Portuguese company?

Oh well as fate goes it appears the owners of the site just went into administration which means the site is now a liability to be sold on... question is who will want the site as it stands?
I have arranged to talk to the site managers next week and will report back on current status. But from todays conversation with my contacts it doesnt even sound like EH have even been back. 😞

Iclock, I'd been meaning to ask whether there was any progress. So based on your update, I guess there has been, but not the sort we had hoped for, i.e. EH properly assessing the site and applying suitable protection.

If ownership is in doubt, then at least no money will be spent on the site 'developing' it. It may also give the Council a chance to place controls on the new owner. Can shovel_6 give the council a nudge?? So I guess we have to wait and see for now... 😠

Many apologies :stupid: My previous comments were not called for,i had been to the 'crooked house!' and had one too many.Had been working near the site and with seeing it closely everyday got to me abit! its just such a shame its a great big mess.I suppose its going to be like it abit longer then by what iclok says.
