A small turn out for the first of the Thursday night N Wales meetups. Just myself and DaveL following a succession of lame and hollow excuses from the deserters 😉

We took a wander up to Conglog as planned, Conglog isn't big (in fact you could walk around it all in 10 minutes) but it's got a number of good artifacts to look at. Some quick photos below:

(and thanks to Steve Turbo for his digging work - dry feet )

There's scope for a little more exploration; looking at JonK's plan in the Conglog Slate Quarry book.

Did you find all four entrances Simon ?

Nope, just two, main B floor and a C floor one. Didn't have much more time for poking around, it was quite late by then.

The lowest entrance is very pretty but doesn't connect (trial?)

The highest one takes you to the top of a chamber - the things is, it is rigged for SRT but when I was in the other levels I couldn't figure out where the connection was

..... You only ran out of time because you photographed every square inch

Great shots, Simon. The level B adit must be a bit more obvious than when I last tried to get in and failed to see it 😞
The little book that you refer to by Celia Hancock and MJT Lewis is very good and amazing value.
If the phone didn''t ring, it was probably me.

Spill the beans then ... don't keep us guessing!

(Unless you mean to abseil into one of the holes or fly across one into a visible adit ? )

Well, going from memory, (it was a few years ago that JonK, myself and a few others gave serious attention to Conglog).

1. You've got the lowest adit.
2. The main adit.
3. The shaft into the main adit partway along (B1)
4. The level which enters the main chamber (B4) at the top of the footwall (possibly D floor horizon).
5. The shaft which enters the main chamber (B4) right in the middle of the roof! (not for the faint hearted)
6. The tight squeeze in the back of one of the open pits which enters chamber B6 on the C floor horizon on the footwall.

Chamber references taken from 'Conglog Slate Quarry', Hancock & Lewis, pg 15.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
