I started Pushing tubs round from the creeper chain in the pit bottom, Then as supply Lad, then as conveyor mover on the coal face then getting a stint, came out of the mine due to breathing problems and worked on the surface, first with the platelayers then the fitters, I attended tech college and finally got my engineers papers, I will sort some of my papers out and add them later. I finished up as Assistant engineer travelled around the area to most mines, then finished up at Cotgrave Colliery finally Emigrating to Australia with my family in January 1969.
I am 77 years old now so I dont think there will be too many around that remembers me.

Hi Gerry and welcome to AditNow :)

Presumably you've seen a the archive pic of Clifton uploaded by am500:

I don't know the date, but it looks like 1960s or thereabouts.

There are also a few photos of Cotgrave at this http://www.aditnow.co.uk/album/Cotgrave-Coal-Mine-Archive-Album/  including this gem, which is presumably of hydraulic roof jacks?

Hello again darkness, my old friend...

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
