Does anybody have any updates on Harworth Colliery's future?.... looked on the web but it all seems to be the same re a bunch of experts evaluating whether the coal 4km from the shaft is viable... apparently there is 40m tonnes.

The site to the Sth of the mine has been cleared and I was told will be housing which in turn is affecting whether the mine re-opens.. Everything in the modern mine looks clean and ok so guess its still on care and maintenance.

By a strange coincidence, I had some aerial photography to do, for a Nottingham client, over Harworth last week, although not of the colliery itself. But the site does appear at the edge of one shot. Have uploaded the salient bit, to show the site in detail, (as it appeared on July 8th.)

Uploaded it to My album. Perhaps I should stick it somewhere else, so to speak? Not quite sure of the proceedure. Photo search for "Harworth" seems to fire it up! BTW Mr ICLOK, I have to say your pics of the Argie bone yard were fascinating!

Stunning place for pictures .. every type of mood dependent on weather ranging from cheerful and up to downright scary in places!!
The Argy railways were superb to as all UK made stuff apart from rolling stock.. lots of Saxilby and farmer signal stuff.

re Uploads just type in the Harworth Mine name and it will bring up the user and archive albums... just upload from there into the mine user album.

Did you once work at BR in Derby??

Never worked at BR although, for my sins I was once a signalman at Peak Rail for a few years (say no more ๐Ÿ˜ž ) Always been a shutter bug to earn a crust. My lad has just returned from a "World Trip" including a visit to Potosi. Says the place is stuck in the 19th century - complete with leather kibbles! I am trying to persued him to fire up a few images on Aditnow. Told me you could buy dynamite, dets &c at Potosi in the market place - which he did and fired it off on the dumps as well as giving some to the local miners. Good job the Elf and Safety goons don't get that far. You seem to be an extremely knowledgable and widely travelled fella!
Cheers Dickie.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
