Not my field this but noticed that Lidl are to sell or are selling a 6 LED light on a minipod powered by 9 x AA batteries giving 200 hours light, it is called a MAX LIFE 369. Noticed it last night on their advertising bumpf... any use?? 🙂

How much do they want for it? Seems to be around £20 elsewhere.

Review at this http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/stanley_max-t.htm , comes to this
conclusion: Very clever design. When fully loaded with cells it has significant heft and since the batteries are in the legs it won't tip over easily in the tripod configuration. The pivoting head puts the light where you need it. Great utility light for around the house and fantastic for power outages. Plop in 9 cells and it'll run for days on only one LED. Aim it at the ceiling for an area light inside the house or point it at a specific area for directional illumination. The spot lenses give decent throw while there is still enough spillbeam to see your immediate surroundings.

I wonder what the emitters are. That review says 718 lumens on all 6 LEDs. Not a lot of output per LED, but all together that's quite impressive, albeit 500g with 9 batteries in it.

Is it not Lux at 1m? Not sure if that equates to Lumens, but that's another debate altogether, which I don't think we ever resolved... 😉

Maybe his light failed and he's still trying to find his way out using glo sticks

:o I hope not!

It does look like the same lamp, here's bograt's original post...

not being in a position to afford one of those light cannon thingys i was in b&q buying a bulb when i spotted this lamp,it runs on 3/6 or 9 batteries has a single led with a huge lens and is blinding, beam can be set on spot or spread and it folds up into a torch, very handy for side passages and for £20 it cant be bad....ill post pics using it after my trip end of month.

Given a Fenix L1D Cree edition puts out 4000-odd lux at 1m the figure for that tripod torch doesn't look as impressive.

If it's less than a tenner then it may well be of some good for lighting photographs - although it has a low output, it will be quite good and diffuse for photographing artifacts and the like and the low output will be countered by a longer exposure :)

Indeed - the comparison between lumens and lux can sometimes be confusing. For example, the Fenix TK10 has a much greater actual output than the Trustfire T1 even though they both use the same emitter (actual 227.5 lumens, quoted as 225 by Fenix and 230 by Trustfire). The Fenix actually produces 75% more light than the Trustfire when measured as Lux at 1m from the flashlight. Wierd eh?

I think that seller is being a bit sneaky 🙂 His photo suggests he's selling the big version, but your £4 gets the little keychain version? :guns:

Lidl will be selling it from the 27th for £14.99. You get both the big version and the keychain one. Not sure I'd want to add that much weight to my backpack, as one of my Fenix torches placed on a rock will do the same job. Hmmm, got me thinking.... you can get torch mounts for bikes, so I may attach one of those to a mini tripod to use with my Fenix torches.

Bograt posted some example photo's using this light, they were very good. I think the weight and size of the thing was off-putting for most.

Fenix do their own bike mount:
