Do they give off enough light to navigate by?

I would expect so, but I've not tried it. I can see an experiment coming on... 😮

My wife was given an AA rechargable torch with a wind up handle for christmas by her cousin. Well you can imagine she was not impressed so she gave it to me.
It works well as a secondary backup light. I recon it would last quite a while as long as I had the energy to turn the handle.

Good question, I've split this off into a different thread because I'm sure it's a topic in it's own right!

I have heard a strong rumour that if you put a still working snap light into the freezer, it preserves its power for another day. Is this correct?

I've added a slightly tongue in cheek review of the cheap ebay glowsticks (you can only take a 28p piece of kit so seriously) here http://www.aditnow.co.uk/gear-reviews/Cheap-Glowsticks/ .

But the freezing thing works  Freeze them and they go out, couple of seconds in the microwave to defrost and a quick shake and they're back up and running again
