Was driving to and from Machynlleth today via the Dylife mountain road, and noticed something going on at this set of remains in the valley opposite the road:

Looks like there has been some digging going on at what I presume is the adit entrance. Took a photo but it was at very long distance.

3 vehicles, a red 4x4 pick-up and 2 cars. Looked like they were leaving when I was coming home as I could see people in yellow helmets walking back up to their cars at the track above.

I'd love to have a look at the residue in the valley below there but wonder what the landowner's feelings are.

What you saw was a temporary excavation for survey and is due to be filled in very shortly. The adit was opened with landowner permission on this temporary understanding as there is livestock in the field. I'm afraid there will be nothing soon to see but the results will be published in due course.

good to see such an observant driver !
