We were doing a spot of wild camping in the camper van at the weekend (Avoiding the bank holiday sheeple) and ended up on the shore of the Nant Y Moch reservoir ...

Delighted to be able to have a wander around the surface workings at Eagle brook/Nant Y Cagl and noticed one clear open adit ....typically didnt have my underground kit with me,
SO wondering IF there is anything to see ???

Interesting thanks....
I was intrigued by Eaglebrook as it looked like someone had been clearing stuff of a level/sough/adit out in the base of the fine tailings tips.

Ahh sorry 🙂 I dont think I have seen any underground reports from Eaglebrook., next time you go need to take your lid and headlamp, what a lovely place to park up and camp.

Can you relate the adit in question to any map feature?

I'd reckon this, is about as close as I'd manage....

Almost in the river/stream on the lower reaches of a heap of fine tailings, nearest to the current road....
As above a culvert.... maybe tail race from the lower wheel pit??

There are a few more buildings on the 1887 1:2500 map, if this link works.

It's mostly a cut-and-cover and it drains the wheelpit, but whether it continues on from the wheelpit's other end is not clear. If it did, it would not have gained much back.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
