Haha well in the true spirit of exploration and adventure, I'd say that was a weekend well spent. Sounds like a rather unusual access into and out of Moel Fferna but you're all in and out and in one piece so well done. My father used to say "Any landing that you can walk away from is a good one!" and the same goes for mine exploration trips ??
Glad you enjoyed sunny Wales. Come again!

haha yes we truly did take exploring to the next level as far as previous experience goes... The peak district is so tame compared to wales! A Little gutted about the gold mine having unfriendly air as I was really looking forward to check it out but never mind good health over curiosity takes precedence!

We shall certainly be returning once we have all taken an advanced SRT course and gained a little more confidence on the ropes as like the previously given advice SRT isn't just abseiling a rope and hauling yourself back up!

We have all the equipment now so its just a matter of practicing on the 'tame' mines of the peaks until the weather improves and we make our return journey!

Considering a trip to Scotland next to check out some tin and copper mines and maybe try for a gold mine up there but i guess it will be a similar scenario of either being owned and secure or dangerous and not worth the risk...

Does anybody know much about the big mine in Wales that has a zip line in it? is it part of zipworld?

Looks serious, i wonder what health and safety restrictions are in place... definitely going to plan a visit to it in the summer! Im open to other recommendations as well, anything accessible and underground and i'm happy to be honest

Considering that the ziplines are run by Miles M on here I'd say that you'd be best served booking one of his trips next time you go!!

You definitely need to book a place on the Ultimate Extreme Trip in Cwmorthin with Go-Below Underground Adventures. We'll show you the awesome mine and take you places you won't believe. All gear provided for you to hang on safety lines whilst dangling 25m above the ground, zip you across chambers on a steel cable in place of collapsed bridges and as I said previously, even throw you off a ledge into the pitch black with a 20m drop - clipped to a line having a centrifugal brake but it's free fall for the first 6 or 7 m

We are planning this over the weekend probably for around May time 🙂 very excited, been watching the youtube links of it and had a browse on the website, cannot believe i've not heard of it before!

£89 for a full day activity is somewhat cheap in my opinion considering what the insurance costs must be and costs of maintenance and equipment etc!

Thanks again can't wait to return!

You may even get me as one of the trip leaders 😮 or certainly one or two others here on AN who do a bit with G-B...

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
