hi all , can anyone tell me the gear needed for abseiling in e,c,t to coniston copper mines and a rough idea of the route , greatly appreciated ?

I suggest you visit the Coniston Copper Mine page on this site.

The 3 articles: "Coniston Copper Mines Re-visited" by the late Peter Fleming have plans and a wealth of information on the exploration/pitch lengths (and potential dangers) of the mines.

Also the "Coniston Copper Mines" field guide by Eric Holland is good for walk-in exploring.

I might make a rough rigging topo after my visit8-)
