while out on the biking trails, i decided to have a look about the mine workings- (explored many of these workings over the past year) there is a part of the trail called the leg burner and overshadowing the start of the incline is some old workings ie wheel house etc, following the tip/spoils up the side of the mountain at the top is an old working that im interested in as all the spoils seems to come from this- before i drag my equiptment up the hill, has anyone explored/visited these workings? being on to of the hill, i can only speculate its rarely visited-im presuming is lead/silver which follows suit to the local mines- google earth ref- 52.420499, -3.901997 close to the hamlet of Trefeurig) sorry i cannot be more direct with my directions- thanks all

This is the nearest mine to your coordinates.

Nantyrarian

This mine is not on the database, I will add it later.
Easiest reached I think by following the track that cuts the Goginan site and would eventually take you below Level Newydd. A footpath branches off to the right and you cross a stream.

There are two open levels, one is just a trial to a forehead and is in deep water, a big disappointment after changing into a wetsuit. The other one, opposite is fairly dry and leads to the engine shaft with a rising main protruding through floating rubbish. Other bits and pieces on the surface, as mentioned.

EDIT
Is on the database

Thankyou both kindly for your replys, u have saved me a big climb 🙂, ah Roy I presumed the track from gogian would reach this as there are a few shafts that lead over the top, altho the track has been fenced off due to collapse off the ground.. just getting back into exploring after a few months off so now happily I can look elsewhere for a new venture cheers fellas ::)

Just to be explicit, the track I mean is the one that leads right past Taylors Incline shaft.

The landowner has certainly made a nice job of the mine site, he is also preserving the mining remains. Very commendable.
If it wasn't for his efforts it would all be covered in gorse by now.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
