Not sure if anyone caught the news item on East Midlands Today last night (Fri 16th January) about Ashfield Council voting to approve plans to demolish the remaining headstocks at Annesley. They haven't put the minutes on the website yet, but link below will take you to the agenda:
http://www.ashfield-dc.gov.uk/cfusion/committees_pdfs/planning_agenda_150109.pdf
The relevant stuff is about halfway through. No idea yet whether the council have imposed any conditions such as photographic recording.
Probably wise to have a last look sooner rather than later (not that I'm advocating trespass, you can see quite a lot from the other side of the inadequate fence full of gaps) before one of the few iconic reminders of our past has gone. Still, it'll be nice to see another sheave mounted on a brick plinth.

Visited today with Camera and no problems re access...just walk down the drive, not even a gate or signs.
Its a sad old place and slightly haunting.... especially the clocking on machine at the head of the shaft!
Last rites duly performed ....... Have posted todays pics in the user album but have posted a few below....
