Thanks for setting this up Vanoord, nice idea, and look forward to seeing the entries.

I've created a new forum group for Competitions and moved this announcement and the example entry to a dedicated forum for The 2007 Aditnow Photography Competition http://www.aditnow.co.uk/community/viewforum.aspx?f=33

[mod]Thread tidied up to remove chat[/mod]

Clarification of a number of issues:
- the closing date has been revised to 30/09/07
- you can change any of your pictures as many times as you want, up to the closing date
- pictures will be judged individually: you are however able to submit three pics to increase your chances of submitting a winning picture
- the judges can not enter, ie SimonRL and Vanoord: all other AN users can enter
- and finally, if there's any confusion, can I point people towards 5(b), above: Photographs will be judged on photographic merit Read into that what you will, but anyone entering pics of naked backsides in Dinorwig should not expect to win... 😮

Just a quickie chaps, how is one to interpret what is and what isn't E.D.E. As in, one of the photo's I've submitted has been played with, the one with the colour taken out. Is this an instant disqualification?

I think we had decided that manipulation of the contents of an image would not be permitted, for example moving objects about, airbrushing significant things out or adding in things that weren't there, like buzzards. And there are examples on this site already ;)

Anyway, I've got no particular problems with conversion of all or part of image to b&w, or indeed altering colour balances a bit in order to improve the image.

The line will be drawn when the image becomes what it is because you've made it in Photoshop rather than because you've taken a good pic in the first place.

Your thoughts, Mr.RL?

I think 72dpi is the only resolution for images on the web in JPEG form? I tend to upload at around 1600x1200 or 2400x1800 if that's any help.

Cheers,
Simon

Once the competition has closed would it be possible to create an albun so that we could see ALL of the entries, instead of having to look at individual entries??

(liking the new size of font on the reply boxex BTW  )

Nice idea Wormster 🙂 Will see to it sometime next week

Edit - will do it after the judging though, as I wouldn't want judging to be influenced by chat about the entries.
