I don't know those early heroes, but looking at the pics (especially "Eric Holland at the Entrance") it's amazing to see how much the fan house and building to its right have deteriorated in the passing years.

Take a look at the archive folder of Croesor photos, uploaded mostly by GrahamI:

Even in 1982 there had been widespread destruction wrought on the place, mainly by removal of the slates.

Where do you think the waterline will settle, is it already at highest or will it likely rise until it drains from the entrance adit. Not sure if there's any other way out for water?

Wouldn't need to rise too much more to do that. Looking at some of those old pics from '82 it looks like one was them boating over west bridges on B floor (comparing to various cavern diving videos), so it's rising at a foot or two a year. Won't be long until it's a wellie walk in.

By my fairly suspect reckoning the level of A floor (much of CRTT) is that little bit higher than Adit, so hopefully the route will stay walkable.

I first did the CRTT in 2007,and the water level hasn't changed in Croesor since then.

The water level is already at Adit level - it has been since before 1996 when I first did the trip.

It's a shame the low level adit was never completed.

There was a write-up in Climber magazine from somewhere between 1989 to 1991 of a very early documented trip. I uploaded some scans of this years back:

And CATMHS I believe undertook it before that in the opposite direction. ChrisJC can probably provide more info on that.

It would be interesting to know if 'Mad Mike', 'Fearsome Phil' and 'Powerful Pete' are still about and if we know them.

That was the article that first drew my attention to the trip. It just took a bit of locating!

I have no idea Chris, sorry! I was given the article to scan by a friends mother back in 1999.

The footnote to the article mentions they all worked in outdoor ed ("instructing"). Maybe somebody in one of the centres around here might remember a Pete, Phil and Mike?
