It should be better quality video, more impressive locations (that they don't know about), and seriously take the **** (in a subtle manner), so the same audience will enjoy it, but revise their opinion of some of the other videographers.

I'd suggest the opposite with locations being the easiest, noob-est, "first trip" places ever, but absolutely with all the added hype and over-dramatisation that goes with these shite vids. Zero chance we want to show them places that might get their interest up, much as it would be nice to show them how little they actually know.

I would wholeheartedly agree on very high production values as well, there's plenty of scope to take the **** out of them and show how places can be showcased without the bullshit and ****wittery that Exploring with F***tards and other knuckle dragging mouth breathers that want to be like them bring along.

I have just typed "exploring with" filtered on title, into the YouTube search field. I had to stop after five minutes scrolling before I became suicidal.

Maybe there is scope for someone with the various skills required, to make a series of EWF parody videos. I would definitely watch them!

Someone has already done one at least.....I'm sure someone on here posted a link to it. It was hilarious. More of an URBEX parody but funny just the same

Hahah - let's hope the parody videos end up making more money than EWF's do. Then it could all go to charridy, which would hopefully **** them off even more 😉

The name for this would sit with them well

A few thoughts on a parody video.

Firstly, who is the audience? Is it the sycophants who follow channels like EWF? Read some of the comments on the videos, you may as well try to hold back the tide as change their minds (or stop the world and get off). Or is it the content producers themselves? They'll laugh it off, they know what they're doing, and are playing to their audience.

Secondly, it's social media. It's transient. One video isn't going to do anything. The EWF channel has been going nearly four years, they've produced 354 videos in that time. That's 10 a month. They've got 274k followers, have clocked up 33 million views, and some of the videos have thousands of comments.

It's going to take a lot of effort and a lot of social media work to gain any traction.

Another funny thing about Mr Dan Dixon is the fact he calls himself a 'fighter' yet he has only ever had one professional fight, which he lost by submission. (https://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Dan-Dixon-125307)

I see them more as Kevin and Perry go caving

Adults acting like petulant children huffing and puffing every time they are asked to do something totally reasonable

Unfortunately I think the only way their audience will realise what a bunch of idiots they are is when they appear on a Televised rescue program in which they get publicly shamed or in the obituary of the local rag.

I agree I think the only way people will learn how stupid they really are is absolute shame if we try to shame them are selves it will take huge amounts of views from the caving work addit now and 28dl we will all need to have a input into this to make it realised, it comes down to the more likes and views the better .

I don't think you would ever gain any traction and overtake them, they are working on it full-time and have a hell of a head start; it would take years to catch them up.
I think the best you could hope for is a couple of vids that catch people's attention and draw attention to the issues. Just enough to make people think. You might just get lucky.

I bet they are reading this thread and having a laugh ;)

Shame they don't register and join the conversation; amazing what you can achieve if you can just get access to actually speak to someone

The primary purpose of a parody should be to entertain. If it makes people smile that's all to the good. It demonstrates to those who see it that there is an alternative view and puts things into a new perspective in a humorous way. A bad parody will simply make people cringe. We certainly wouldn't want to see that sort of own goal. It isn't realistic to think it will change much. Better to have some harmless fun than get too hung up over things.

I do tend to agree, a single parody video, although great fun and I wouldn't want to dissuade anyone from doing it, would probably not have a massive impact unless done spectacularly well and had a bit of luck going viral.

The idea of turning it into a charity fundraising thing is also great in principle but, to give an example, it took me slightly over 2 and a half years to get my channel to the point of monetisation, I've received revenue since June this year. Last month I earnt £36

I was thinking more of a general effort to get more positive responsible content out there to counteract this stuff a bit more.

Hi newish member here so sorry for not knowing who people are yet or respecting the right people but where is the line?

There are people on this thread as admitted above who have monetised YouTube channels about mine exploration.
What is acceptable and what isn't?

If its just the ppe thing then contact those that offend and give them advice of what to wear and tell them once they do that there will be no issues in what they do.
If its the putting mines on YouTube situation then shouldn't everyone be treated the same? If you have a YouTube channel you are not welcome sort of thing.

There are some members on here who have taken these YouTube 'goons' around mines, they do not have the intelligence to find them by themselves especially not to find covert entrances so they rely on guides that do know and unfortunatley it seems those guides want their 5 minutes of fame.

In my opinion anyone with a YouTube channel are potentially harming the hobby and anyone found to be helping these monetised channels should be ostracised from the scene along with their creators.

Someone with more time on their hands would be able to use Facebook to out these muppets easier than making parody videos for YouTube which on the face of it seems a bit below the level of most members here, I know we like exploring underground but why drag ourselves down to those levels of making videos, seems to me its just as bad.

Just some food for thought.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
