Oh the irony...;)

“I would prefer it if these type of groups came and talked to me and helped us. If they give us a list of safety equipment I would buy it all and take the training they recommend, but most of them just want to give criticism.”

I’m glad you found the words; I found myself speechless ??

It's hot air, as we all know. Plenty of people have told them what they need to do, but they just delete criticism, or have rabid followers downvote it into oblivion. I sincerely hope when hey off themselves they do in in the most unobstructive and inconvinient way possible.

Mr Dixon is very good at hot air, if NG as a fighter or a mine explorer, maybe he has aspirations towards becoming a politician?

The guy from COMRU is just giving a warning which is understandable although he does say that the people in the said video did not actually need to call them out so it is a justified heads up to any inexperienced explorers that they can risk more than just their own lives, fair enough although he does not mention EWF but this has turned into an EWF thread, they will probably be laughing their bollocks off at the extra attention and clicks and revenue.
However it is not just the inexperienced who need the rescue services and I bet that more than one or two of us have been shitting it in the past on a back up call that is suddenly looking a bit iffy for whatever reason despite having all the clobber.
top and bottom of it is that if the likes of EWF get lots of attention (good or bad) they will be back for even more YT likes and revenue, why not just let EWF fade away because that is the what they would hate most.

Reading the Smallcleugh thread, I have just had an idea.

Next time somewhere is hit by the painters and decorators, why not video the clean up with lots of peas taking of the culprits and highlighting the way this detracts from the pleasure of others?

Maybe someone like UKAME could help with this.

Just an idea, I dont know what you all think.?

On the face of it not a bad idea. I suppose if the intention is to influence those responsible it would need to include some practical tips on better forms of route finding as well.

If nothing else it would have the potential to show a wider audience the sort of conservation work that goes on as well as exploration.

It is a very difficult thing to predict, whether it would be a good thing or not. Locally to me, there have been a number of antisocial activities, mainly petty nuisances. These include taking people's bikes and leaving them lying around by the side of footpaths, roaring around the area on mini motorbikes, and most recently petty vandalism of Christmas decorations in the fronts of peoples' homes. They inevitably end up being reported on the local Facebook group, where everyone says how awful it is, but in reality what is happening is it is a game being played to see what reactions can be prompted from the outraged residents. Once the admins turn off comments or stop approving the posts, amazingly the nonsense dies away. So a video factually demonstrating the removal of the mess without comment or judgement or criticism would stand the best chance of success. Being seen to get a "good" reaction might simply encourage more of the same.

A good point.

This game is already being played underground in at least one location...... :(

I've seen behind the scenes at some of these large channels that pretend to be chavvy and idiots, they are basically marketing people and are very different in real life, same as the 'reality' shows you get on tv. They know their target audience, they know how to play to them and they know how to create the kind of controversy that ignites conversations such as this here to give them more exposuse. To these people, it's all about marketing, nothing you do or say to them will change them, they are basically a business playing to their audience.

Agreed. I've been saying this from the outset. They are playing to their audience, and they are smarter than people are giving them credit for. They are, after all, making money having a laugh.

Nobody is going to educate these channels or individuals. They couldn't care less.

And rest assured, whatever the top channel for this crap is at present the next one will be worse.
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by
