I'm trying to find some photographs of Denby Drury-Lowe Colliery (ie the new shaft). Any ideas?

I'm interested in all the mines around Denby. I've seen one or two photographs in the display at Ripley, showing the Denby Drift (complete with conveyor structure) when it was exposed by the opencasting, and they also had so pics of the original (presumably Denby Hall) shafts. The abandonment plan also showed (can't find it in the roof at present) a small snicket or cross drift near the main decline that seemed to start from near the Aeromatic plant (or whatever it is now called. It seems a rather forgotten part of the Derbyshire Coalfield. There was also a drift near Denby village (Flamsteed Drift, about 1 in 3 on the abandonment plan) with some structure still apparent at the surface, but on private property, and I'd like to know a bit more about that too.

Hi, I've just joined the forum.

I worked at both Denby Drury-Lowe and Denby Hall 48 years ago. I am currently compiling a history of Drury-Lowe Colliery, which I have almost completed, and which I hope to publish shortly.

I have loads of photo's of both pits. Drury Lowe photo's include the construction of Flamstead Drift in 1953 and recent ones which the landowner gave me permission to take. I also have photo's of the shaft refurbishment at Kilburn in 1955, and photo's of the Old Pit and New Winnings, both surface and underground.

Put me down for a copy when you publish - always wanted to see what D-L looked like. All the best with the project.
