Not sure if this link has been posted before, it's quick and easy to use, just tried it with a known reference I had from the BGS a while back, more or less spot on, handy for old mine plans that only show Magnetic North as a reference and your trying to find the bits on the ground referencing to an OS map grid:

Ah yes, its all coming back to me now....Army Cadet training consisted of being dropped on the Moelwyns and given a feature to navigate to using map and compass, usually a WW2 aircraft crash site somewhere.

The briefing consisted of:

"Ok lads, remember that this is the early 1980s so declination is 7 degrees in this part of the world"

and...

"Remember....'Terrain to grid - get rid' and don't add like you did last time you useless bunch of t0$$ers. Going round in circles all f'ing weekend"
In other words knock off 7 degrees, don't add 7 degrees ;)

and finally...

"Well what are you waiting for? F**K OFF !!!"

Whilst training Venture Scouts in navigation we used GUMA & MUGS.

Grid Unto Mag - Add.

Mag Unto Grid - Subtract.
