I note that our Anglo/Australian Mining Company is to substantially increase the number of its driverless dumper trucks.
They initially were only made by the Komatsu company, but in the latest press release, it states that some of its Caterpillar trucks are going to be modified so they can be driverless as well!
Basically it costs around£120,000 per year to have a driver in the cab and they are, apparently more prone to having accidents!
They are able to run these trucks and control them from their Perth office which is thousands of miles away.
Also mentioned in this press release is their work on robotic drilling and firing. We are definitely looking at the end of Mining as we know it.
