I found out earlier this evening that Dr. Trevor Ford, one of the founder members of PDMHS and long-time editor of the society's bulletin, sadly passed away this afternoon.

I can remember going to lectures by him at Cave Research Group conferences in the late '60s early '70s. His published books include
Lead Mining in the Peak District
(1968) which was my introduction to mining history.

Sad news. A true giant of The Peak. He's left plenty of material behind him though for others to read an follow. A life well lived.

Sad News indeed. I remember Mr Paul Deakin and others referring to him as "Clever Trevor". Met him a couple of times at PDMHS do's. Another Legend passes away...
If it can't be grown it has to be mined.

That is very sad news. I was a undergraduate geologist at Leicester and was taught paleontology by Trevor Ford - I last saw him at a reunion of the Class of 1972 at a reunion in 2012. An amazing guy!

I met Trevor a number of times during my "Derbyshire Period".
He was always interested in what you thought and probably more importantly what you had seen!
His passing is a great loss both to P.D.M.H.S. and to mine exploration in general.
