I think basically this is a good idea.
I note the people suggesting it state that these high Lithium values are due to hydrothermal interaction with the granite.
In any case the whole operation will depend on the economics of it.
I have not seen any analysis of the Lithium brine, but presumably it will be contaminated with both sodium and magnesium chlorides. Hence any extraction process must have to eliminate these contaminants.
After this processing their refined product must be competitive with that available from better brines or lithium salt deposits elsewhere in the world.

Just wondering about the mining knowledge of the press reporters?
The reporter in yesterday's Times, showed one the classic, Dolcoath pictures, as the lead into their article on Lithium mining in Cornwall.
I can only assume that the reporter's knowledge of basic mine ores must be absolutely nil.
The only non soluble Lithium ores are the silicates, of which the largest deposit in Europe, is in Southern Ireland.
A few mining Companies are sniffing around this deposit, but my guess there is a long way to go yet, before, any large amounts, of the ore are processed.

A few years ago i was chatting wit a CSM student in his final year who mentioned the existence of significant deposits in the clay district.
He went on to say that extraction could be added as part of their waste management program.
If Imreys didn't want to do it, I dare say they could find a company willing to give it a go.

I grew up with the lithium industry, my father in heavilly involved in the industry (MD for 4 Lithium Companies) and I can guarantee this will not bear fruit. It is simply a way for a company to make money by people investing.

All this lithium mining stuff is a load of crap. Its just like that indium stuff at crofty. Better fit they just get on with prospecting for what's this great counties known for, TIN and TUNGSTEN.

Being old enough to recall the "Hot Rocks" programme at Rosemanowse in the 70s, and given the extensive research done over the years into mine discharges, I'm sure that if payable lithium values in mine water existed, it would already be known.

Another bubble. With Australia's highest grade (2x world average) and biggest hardrock lithium mine operating on a single shift most of the current crop of low-grade Li-mica and lithium brine hopefuls are going nowhere fast.
