I was unaware that a new edition of this was out until I spotted one in Browsers in Port on Saturday, despite it being published in 2007.

The old version was split into two volumes and I believe it dates from the 40's, but with some revisions since.

Not surprisingly, in a post tectonic world, the geology in the new edition is interpreted in a paleo geographic context of terranes, back arc basins, rifting and the like. Loads of full colour sections and maps as well.

Am only on chapter 2, but even on that, I would recommend if you don't already have it.

Tsk.... That's cheaper than mine after delivery. Still I shall be retiring with my version for further perusal imminently.
