I know you guys like to hear about new projects, and here is one in Mexico!
A mining company, Bacanora, are to bring a new lithium mine into production in the Sanoran desert, presumably on the Mexican side of the border since this desert stretches into Arizona.
They are stating that when this new mine starts production the present price for Lithium ca $6,000 per ton will fall to around $2,700.
They are hoping to get the first production by 2019!
Just in time for more electric cars!

It was once proposed to extract Lithium as a by-product from the china clay in the St Austell district of Cornwall. If the world price is set to fall as suggested, then that idea will be something of a dead duck.

Don't know, but it would be a great treatment for a depressed mining industry.

That was shown on Chris Tarrants extreme railway journeys and were the salt flats in Bolivia. Isn't this extraction rather than mining though?

I showed this to my Father. He has been retired for 2 years and used to be the Managing Director for 4 large Lithium based companies based out of the USA and Europe.

His words were along the lines of it wont happen. Its an investment scheme that wont yield.
