You've got to laugh at the gall of these guys! 9.8 AH!.....If I can obtain that sort of power from 18650's I should be able to replace my car battery with 8 of them in a 4 x 4 series / parallel config  :lol: ....Oriental measurements again!

You can actually get car jump packs that are basically that, and they do work. A few people I know on a car forum have tried them out. This sort of thing...

Chinese quality batteries with Chinese charger
Assembled with Chinese quality control.

I would estimate they have more chance of going up in flames than a box of Swan Vesta matches!

The big issue is that people will believe this sort of rubbish and use it as a comparison yardstick.

If only the Sony/Panasonic batteries were as good as what these clever Chinese people can build!

And at the bargin price of £7.99 for 8 with a charger, do these batteries actually contain any lithium.

What with the torches and probably a lot of other stuff its all out of hand.
Are Trading Standards actually that powerless to act?

One could think of quite a few jokes about Chinese second hand car dealers

Maybe they meant microamperehours:)

Not all stuff from China is tat though, I recently bought a DDS VFO that was made in China, stable to less than one part per million as I tested it.

Whilst not attempting to contradict anything that other members have posted, it is my opinion, that the main problem with Chinese or for that matter, emerging economies, is the lack of quality control.
The more savvy US and European, manufacturers, send staff over there to ensure that this takes place.
If you are buying something from a purely, Chinese or Indian manufacturer, then this quality control can be distinctly lacking.

probably recycled laptop batteries, most cheap 18650s seem to be.

I brought a 12,000 lumen hand torch last year for about 25 quid, just for giggles really. Needless to say it was pants, not a patch on the old P7 torches of 6-7 years ago that were labelled as 900 lumens, and even that was an overestimate

I think people just print what they like to make it sound good.

The ebay listing seems to have changed to 4000mAhr now ?? Amazingly the wrappers match this as well!

4000mAH is still about double the true value isn't it?

I have ordered some for a laugh.:-[
If they turn up I will try to measure the capacity.

We dont know. Recycled laptop batteries will usually have the remains of a solder tag, but some of the manufactured stuff is rubbish.

I was tempted to order some. If you ensure that the cell is fully charged, check the voltage on a meter to see how good the charger is. Should be 4.2V. Then connect to a 1 amp drain is easiest, connect through a multimeter for a better picture.
I would connect to a XML LED through 3 X 7135 chips, should be 1050 mA, near enough. Unless someone can think of something better.

Some of this stuff is better than expected and you wonder why they have to missell it.

Maybe the 9800 mAh was a sales ploy knowing everyone would be buying them to test just for a laugh. Orientals are supposed to be inscrutable.

That is what I intend.
Plus I will measure the current draw. :smartass:

I think I'd probably go for the simple, primitive solution of using filament lamps as the load - they are not bad as a crude way of drawing a fairly constant current. When you think about it as the voltage drops they get dimmer - filament less hot so lower resistance. Be interesting to see what you get at different loads. I assume the rating is at a fairly slow discharge.

It is simpler for me to use one of my headsets with 4 0ff 7135 regulators theoretical 1400 ma draw. I can get 1 single or multiple cells in series to try them measuring run time and current draw. Also re-charge time at known current.

They are shown as dispatched so let's wait and see what turns up.
