One thing I miss from M EE is teh pub!!

Hmm, I don't want to be copying features, but an off-topic hangout is possible if people want one. We could call it the Miners' Legs maybe ;)

Is there demand?

If one was set up I'd do it as a club forum so it'd be opt-in, which would mean off-topic banter would be kept OFF the home page for people who weren't members.

I could live without one but it would be laughable to call it copying if you did go that way, off-topic chat areas are commonplace on a wide range of forums.

As you suggest, it would definitely have to be hidden from the main page though, long lists of threads which distract from the main forum theme are a huge turn-off to many.

What would we call it?

Note to anybody reading this thinking "oh no", if it's set up as an opt-in forum it'll be totally invisible to anybody who hasn't asked to see it.

Club forums are a single click for an admin. It'd just be a case of a post saying "get me outa here" 😉

I just logged into the thingy to set it up... and then realised we really do need a name for it... For now it's called 'pub' which is a bit of a pants name...
