Hi Jim,
Think that these are the dumps associated with Heights West Cross Vein, situated in the higher reaches of Park Burn.
As peter J. has already commented there are a lot more holes here than they were formerly.
I think someone who has been banned from this site had something to do with this.

Hi John,

Thanks for the details, I'll add it to the commentary on the photo.

John, the dumps are from the level that was driven directly into Heights north vein. About 200m inbye you could turn right along the west cross vein so I guess the material on the dumps could have come from either vein. There was a level driven directly into west cross vein but it would have been somewhere near the current quarry offices and has long since disappeared, along with the vein itself.

Hi Spar lad,
You are correct the dumps from North Vein did mingle a little with those of West Cross Vein, but when I was there in the 60’s it appeared then, that there was a ‘gap’ between the two tips.
Also at that time there was an entrance to the level on the West Cross Vein, but it had run in just inside it.
However, most of the diggings at that time were small and in this vein, hence my comments.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
