I spent a couple of hours on Friday helping to clean the rust off the Cornish beam engine at Sandfields Pumping Station near Lichfield which is receiving long overdue attention after many years of neglect.
On Sunday I called in at Caphouse Museum and had a look at the steam winding engine there to find it out of steam and cold; the first time I have known it like this. Consequently the rust is starting to form on the exposed steelwork which hasn't been protected by grease or oil.:(
I do hope the museum is going to do something to prevent further decay.
Yes, I'll have it - what is it?
