Here are a couple of shots of the B31 Incline resistances when the incline was in working order in 1981. Please note the main current was locked OFF when these were taken!!! The barrels were supported on teak beams which in turn were supported on ceramic insulators. Operation of the wheels was by an extremely odd set of levers linked together from the control shaft across the incline stage.

Brilliant, I have puzzled over these contraptions in several mines and never come up with a convincing idea for what they did. Thanks everyone.

This is a lovely photograph of the Oakeley Ch34 Incline gear. Notice the Bruce Peebles liquid resistance controller, of the same type as those at PenyrOrsedd.
